How to fix Xprt5.dll error?

Nothing is perfect, and online nothing is without its (major) flaws. Software companies are constantly working to improve their programs and AOL is no exception. However, even with the effort by America Online, you may still see some problems with your AOL programs like AIM or AOL-email. You’ll know you’re dealing with a common AOL problem with an error message pops up to let you know that you’re facing an Xprt5.dll error. This is essentially an AOL error.

Fixing Xprt5.dll

While AOL is working hard, you need to take this particular problem in hand and find a way to resolve it. Fortunately, it’s not much of a challenge to resolve. If you’re getting the DLL error message from AOL, you’re basically looking at a corrupted file that runs the AOL applications. If the DLL file is messed up, all of the programs are likely to be messed up, too. You may see this in pop-ups while you’re trying to use the program or you might not be able to even start up the application without it closing down again. Whatever the case, take the proverbial bull by the horns and fix it right up.

If the program running AOL or AIM is messing up, you need to simply remove the program and put in a clean, updated version of the same thing. Fortunately for you, this is as easy as it sounds. If AOL is giving you trouble, you’ll start by removing the program from your computer and then reinstalling a clean version of AOL so that everything is working correctly again.

Removing and Reloading AOL

AOL does have some one-click fixes available on the AOL website that might help clear up the problem before you become too invested in removing programs. Before heading to the Control Panel, try clicking on the One-click Fix AOL has provided here. Follow the instructions to see if the fix patches the DLL problem for you. If it does, you’re in luck and your AIM is ready to go again. If nothing seems to be improved, you’re no worse off for trying and it’s time to head to the more serious method.

Go to Start and then Control Panel. In the Control Panel open either Add or Remove Programs or Programs and Features depending on the age of your machine. Then, in the menu that appears, scroll down to find the AOL programs on your machine. Highlight the program you’re looking to remove and then click on Uninstall near the top of the menu. Do this for every version of AOL you have installed on your computer. Once all of the old versions are removed, you can start downloading the new AOL programs.

You can do this in two ways. The first is to visit the One-click Fixes page. As you follow the steps of the download, the program will help you install all of the aspects of AOL and get everything set up for you again. Click on Run, Save, Yes and Okay as often as necessary until the program’s download is complete. Then you’ll be ready to work in AOL again.

Another option for getting AOL back on your machine without errors is to download the program again directly from the America Online website. AOL has a full page of downloads that give you the choice of what to put back on your machine. Pick the ones that work for you and go through the steps to download them to your machine by clicking on Download Now for each. As you go through the steps of the download, you’ll be putting the programs you need back on your machine. Once the downloads are complete, you’ll be ready to roll again

Downloading Safely

There is a risk every time you download a new program to your computer. Never download from a website you don’t recognize and trust. You’ll want to be sure you’re on the AOL site for any downloads and fixes because too often the developers of malware hide viruses and Trojans using the common DLL names that break in programs. Using only the AOL website and having a strong security suite in place will prevent any problems that malware might otherwise cause for you. Good luck!
