What is Installer Error 2869?


When attempting to install or uninstall applications, you may be seeing errors that mention Windows Installer. Installer is an application that handles the maintenance, updates, and installation or removal of Windows software.

Quick Fix #1

The easiest fix, is to check to make sure Windows Installer is enabled on your PC.

Click on your Start button and go to Run.
Type in “services.msc” and hit Enter.
Double click on Windows Installer.
If the startup field says “Disabled” go ahead and change it to “Manual” in the drop down box.

Quick Fix #2

If your Windows Installer already is enabled, you may need to update it to a newer version.

Open your Internet browser and go to Microsoft’s web site for the latest download of Windows Installer.

Scroll down the page to the Files in This Download section.
Click on the file you want to download and follow the download instructions.

Installer Error 2753

Error 2753 is an internal error that users often see after their system recovers from a problem or crash. To fix a 2753 error, just follow the next steps.

1) Click on your Start button and then Run.
2) Enter “CMD” (without the quotes) in the box and click Go to bring up your DOS command window.
3) Type in “regsvr32 vbscript.dll" (without the quotes) and hit Enter.
4) "DllRegisterServer in vbscript.dll succeeded" should pop up on your screen, meaning the right files have been registered.
5) To test, click on the Installer file for the application that gave you the initial error.

Installer Error 2869

Error 2869 is an error that Windows Vista users get when there is an error with the package they are trying to install. Vista will send the error to anyone without “administrator privileges.”

To give yourself administrator privileges:

1) In Windows Explorer, find the package you tried to install and right-click on Setup.exe.

2) Click on Run as Administrator.

3) Try reinstalling the package.

Error 1721 occurs when Windows XP users try to add or remove programs and the installer engine has been corrupted. To fix this error try these steps:

1) Restart your PC in Safe Mode and log on as the local administrator.

2) Then click on your Start button and Run.

3) Type “cmd.exe” (without the quotes) and click the OK button.

4) With the command prompt, type “msiexec /unregister” (without the quotes) and then “msiexec / regserver” (without the quotes). Then press Enter.

5) Type “exit” (without the quotes) and hit Enter.

6) Try to uninstall the program again using the Add or Remove Software application.
